Selection Process


The selection process of the Railway Recruitment Board consists of three phases.

The first phase is the written examination, where candidates' analytical skills and knowledge are assessed to select suitable individuals for the positions. The written exam is conducted online by the examination board at various centers across the country. It is an objective type exam with 100 questions, each carrying 1 mark, to be answered in 90 minutes. There is a penalty of 1/3 for each incorrect answer.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Candidates who surpass the minimum cut-off set by the CBSE board in the CBT exam will be called for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET).

Document Verification: The next step is document verification where candidates must be present at the regional allocated centers with their original documents.

Medical Examination: After verifying documents, RRB has released a list of selected candidates for medical examination along with dates and centers. Candidates need to be present in their physical form.

Post Allocation: A new list will be issued with the candidates who should be fit and capable for the positions, along with their post allocation and inclusion date.

Educational Qualification and Age Limit


Candidates must have completed their High School (Class 10) from a recognized group or have a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) set by NCVT. Also, applicants must be between the ages of 18 to 33 in order to be eligible for the examination.
